Dr Alastair Taylor (MBBS FRACS) has been practicing at the Canberra Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (CAPS) Clinic in Canberra for nearly 20 years. In this time CAPS has grown to include a major non-surgical rejuvenation practice staffed by 3 dermal clinicians, a skin cancer clinic with 3 skin cancer specialists and a fully accredited private long stay hospital, all under one roof. Dr Taylor performs his surgery in his own dedicated boutique hospital and patients can stay up to four days. Dr Taylor has adopted the 14 point plan as he believes anything that can be done to ensure a better long term result should be done. BIA-ALCL may be rare but is a major concern. The 14 point plan addresses the biofilm genesis of the disease so in 8 years’ time the incidence could be infinitesimal. The plan also has significant benefits in the prevention of capsular contracture which has been a (declining) problem since the first breast implants. Dr Taylor prefers contoured implants over round for their more natural shape in clothing and regards the 14 point plan as essential to prevent future issues with textured implants guaranteeing their use for many years to come.
