Australian Breast Device Registry

The Australian Breast Device Registry is a Commonwealth Government initiative managed by Monash University’s School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine in collaboration with the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery (ACCS) and Breast Surgeons of Australia & New Zealand Inc (BreastSurg ANZ). The ABDR monitors the safety of breast devices and records their impact on the health and well-being of patients. It will also identify optimal surgical techniques and provide feedback on quality of care to surgeons and device manufacturers. The simple “tick and stick” form is completed in theatre at the time of operation. The ABDR provides a direct line of communication between patients, surgeons, device manufacturers and government regulators. It provides peace of mind in the event that a device requires recall. For details on getting involved, see abdr.org.au or email abdr@monash.edu.
